Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club
Fall 2022/Spring 2023 TRAVEL Soccer
ALL Travel Coaches, Asst. Coaches, and Managers

After registering, the Travel Director or the Director of Coaching will contact you to coordinate coach interviews and offer team assignments. Once you are assigned to a team, you will receive further instructions to submit/update your information for a background check, and to complete an annual SafeSport certification. We also require all team staff to complete the CDC Concussion training. Concussion training is a one time requirement, but the SafeSport training must be refreshed annually.
BACKGROUND CHECK.
The background check requirement allows us to submit the roster to our state association, CJSA.
- Mandatory On-Line Background Check: All volunteers 18 years of age or older must complete a mandatory on-line background check. The on-line background check takes 2 to 3 minutes to complete and the background clearance is good for 3 years. To complete the background check, please register as a coach on our new website (link above), but note the following requirements.
- LEGAL NAME. Please enter your full, complete, and LEGAL name. No nicknames or abbreviations. This will ensure a smooth review without delays.
- DOB: CJSA (Connecticut Junior Soccer Association) and GHSC (Glastonbury Hartwell Soccer Club) require that all adult volunteers provide their date of birth as part of the volunteer registration.
-
Social Security Number. The new background check process requires that the user enter in their social security number. This number is not stored in Stack Sports database, Blue Sombrero's database, or in Glastonbury Hartwell's database. The number is immediately encrypted and sent to the background check service provider.
PLEASE NOTE THAT NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A COACHING or MANAGER POSITION UNTIL ALL MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS ARE MET.
MANDATORY SAFESPORT TRAINING.
All coaches will be required to have completed a 2022 SAFESPORT training certificate for either the initial course or the annual refresher training. You must have one of these certificates dated on or after July 1, 2022.
With a goal of safeguarding our players, CJSA is not unique in requiring all adults interfacing with youth to complete this mandatory training, you may have already been required to complete with other youth sports or town programs.
Lastly, we want all coaches to take the CDC Concussion training. It only has to be taken once, but please save your training certificate.
Your actions can help create a safe environment for young athletes so that they can stay healthy, active, and thrive - both on and off the playing field.
Both CDC and SAFESPORT provide certificates of completion on successful which will be needed to be confirmed as a coach. It is important to FOLLOW THE SAFESPORT INSTRUCTIONS carefully. In order to receive full credit for completing the course and transferring the credits, you must follow the instructions on our website at the link below.
The online SAFESPORTS sessions take 1.5 hours and the CDC session about 30-40 minutes. It is a good idea to get a jump start on these trainings and certifications before the Fall season approaches.
